To all of my Facebook friends - Please read this!
Reece's Rainbow (RR) is a ministry that advocates for children with down syndrome and other special needs (the ministry we're going through). Each year they promote the Christmas Angel Tree Project. Who are the angels? All orphans with down syndrome from ages 0-5 are posted on one page for people to sponsor and donate towards their adoption grants. The goal of this project is to raise $1000 for each orphan between November 1 and December 31. We are prayer warriors for Katelyn, and you can read about her here. Sixty dollars have been raised for her so far. If you donate $35, RR will send you a Christmas ornament with her picture.
Have you ever seen/read this quote:
"We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they're not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, EVERYTHING changes."
David Platt in his book Radical
I want to make a challenge to all of my Westminster Presbyterian brothers and sisters. I plan to donate $35 dollars to Katelyn's adoption fund TODAY! Will you join me? Will you consider $35 from your budget this month? Will you place an ornament with her picture on your tree and commit to pray for her? She was in the same orphanage as Gayle, but has been transferred out of the baby house orphanage due to her age. She needs a family quickly. Share this with as many people as you know. The power of prayer is amazing, and increasing her adoption fund might encourage a family to bring her home.
Please go here and scroll to the bottom to find Katelyn. While you are scrolling through the page, make time to look over the faces of these precious gifts of God...
THANK YOU!
Just curious did you meet Katelyn? How long ago did you adopt your daughter from that orphanage?
ReplyDeleteOh, you haven't adopted yet. How far are you in the process?
ReplyDeleteHello Beth,
ReplyDeleteOur status on our FSP is "Almost There"; our dossiers were submitted on 9/22/2011, before the admin changes started. At this point, we are awaiting the new department to start re-issuing appointment dates...
Hi! Imagine my surprise as I was reading through the page on RR regarding children who are "almost home" and I see a family in my town! I live near Brickerville! :-) Anyway, I am Quinten 2H's Christmas Warrior this year and I'm busy reading up on everyone's activities. Nice to see a "neighbor" in the midst of all this. Good luck to you!!
